Saperavi Character

The most common high quality feasting “Supra” wine in our collection. The beverage that is consumed by Georgian Tamadas (Feast Leaders) and other participants in large quantities. 

Saperavi is a Georgian endemic red grape variety. “peri” (ფერი) in Georgian means color. The core of the name might be interpreted as colorful or colorizer. The Acidity level varies from 7.5 to 8.5 grams per liter and the sugar level reaches from 20 to 26% per liter. Saperavi is cultivated in large numbers which makes it the most widespread and mass produced red wine grape variety across Georgia. It is called a “Supra wine” which means that it is for Georgian feast “supra” where it can be consumed in high quantities, sometimes 3 liters per person on one feast.  Geographically most of Saperavi vineyards come from the Easternmost wine region Kakheti.
