Tasting notes
Otskhanuri Sapere is considered to be west Georgia’s best variety of red grapes that gives wine genuine character, vivid color and balanced sweetness with tannins. Well expressed blast of red berry fruits on the front, good acidity, followed by pepper spice and a smoky finish. After aging wine produces deep and intense aromas and tastes.
Otskhanuri Sapere Character
Otskhanuri Sapere is an endemic Georgian grape variety mostly spread in western Georgia centered in the region of Imereti. The name Otskhani (ოცხანი) comes from the village of the same region. The Acidity level varies from 9 to 10 grams per liter and the sugar level reaches from 20 to 23% per liter. Grape is used for producing high quality red wine, also for mixing with white wine grape varieties. The mixing can be done with many grapes, which means that Sapere has this special characteristic to perfectly blend in with other grape varieties and offer us a rich taste and color. After aging, wine produces deep intense aromas and tastes.
